I am excited to announce that I will be driving from Montana to Detroit for an artist residency at Popps Packing. I will be leaving May 13 and arriving in Hamtramck on May 15.
I will be collaborating with citizens to initiate design workshops for reclaimed material play spaces, critical discussions, printmaking, alternative economies, composting and land revitalization. Detroit is ground zero for creative initiatives to emerge from the destructive force of capitalism and post-Fordism.
As an artist, I am particularly concerned about dangerous risk of gentrification in Detroit. Along the way, I will be analyzing the way cities work. I been really interested in urban planning and artists' role in economic trends.
Any suggestions of places to visit on my way or in Detroit? I will be stopping in Minneapolis and Chicago.
